On Saturday July 30th, LUMINA joined BOMB Magazine’s Small Press Flea with a table at the entrance of Grand Army Plaza, in front of the Brooklyn Public Library.
Jacob Slichter, an SLC Nonfiction faculty member, came by. He is pictured with Nonfiction MFA alum ’15, Sarah Paolantonio and Lumina Digital Editor, Maryann Aita.
Jake also shared encouraging writerly support and doggy treats.
Several SLC alums (both undergraduate and graduate) came over to our table when they recognized the LUMINA journal. It was wonderful connecting with so many local writers and artists eager to learn more about LUMINA’s mission statement, the writing and writers we’ve published, and our theme for Vol.XVI. The day flew by! We sold journals and handed out flyers, bookmarks, and stickers.
Unfortunately, our day was cut short an hour early due to the rain, but with our 60+ newly signed-up email subscribers and many promising writers interested in our Nonfiction contest, and some particularly intense love for our contest judge, Leslie Jamison, LUMINA’s marketing team has labeled the Small Press Flea a massive success. We look forward to returning again next year BOMB Magazine!
