Dear Readers and Writers,
It has been a wonderful year working on LUMINA Vol. XIV. We accomplished so much this year and we wanted to thank our staff, our writers, and all our readers who have given us so much support this year!
Without all of your love and support we wouldn’t have been able to do the awesome things we did this year. We wouldn’t have been able to make LUX Vol. 2 into such a beautiful book with a new design, full color printing, and new forms of digital access both on our website and via the Layar App. We wouldn’t have had such wonderful launch parties, allowing us reach out to wider audiences, and bringing down the house with readers like Nick Flynn, Mary Morris, Erika Anderson, Rachel Eliza Griffiths, Cecily Wong, Yuko Otomo, and so many others!
We wouldn’t have been able to launch our very first four issues of LUMINA Online, a literary journal that strives to publish the odd, the beautiful, the uncanny, and the often unheard voices, right here @ LUMINA Online. We wouldn’t have been able to include the very first official translation section for LUMINA, publishing works by Etgar Keret, Tedi López Mills, and Chang Seok Kim. And we wouldn’t have been able to do what we’ve always done, which is bring heart-thumping, hilarious, darkly-moving, and intelligent works of art and literature together in a beautifully printed book.
Thank you to the staff of LUMINA Vol. XIV, thank you to our faculty advisors, thank you to our wonderfully talented writers who let us handle their amazing works, and thank you most of all to our readers. You bring true meaning to our work.
We would now like to introduce you to the executive staff of LUMINA Vol. XV, Sarah Dean, Katie Bonadies, and Victoria Provazza! These three ladies will be at the helm this year, bringing LUMINA into its 15th year! I know the party is just getting started. Stay tuned. Some exciting things are about to happened!
For now, this isn’t goodbye, but see you later, perhaps at the LUMINA Literary Journal Fifteenth Anniversary Launch Party!
All the best,
Jessica Denzer, Courteney Palis, and George Sawaya
