What would you absolutely love to see in LUMINA this year? I want to see craft used in a way that changes my perspective. Nonsensical work isn’t off-putting as long as it is beautiful and fun to think about. I believe in the power of accidents.

What would you love to see in LUMINA this year? Anything and everything! Especially strong writing that really tells stories.

Also Dracula by Bram Stoker is an amazing book.
What would you love to see in LUMINA this year? Writing and art that breaks your heart in the best of ways.

What would you absolutely love to see in LUMINA this year? To quote one of my favorite artists, Federico Fellini, “…the infinite passion of life.”

Where did you grow up? I was raised on Springmount Avenue in Toronto, Canada.
Who are your favorite authors? Lately I’ve been really into Rick Moody and Miranda July. I’m also into Matthew Rohrer, Ariana Reines, Rachel Zucker, Lydia Davis, recently Campbell McGrath. As for Canadians there’s Anne Carson, Jan Zwicky, Lorna Crozier, Al Purdy, David O’Meara, Zoe Whittall, my former profs Tim Lilburn, Sina Queyras and Dave McGimpsey. I can roll with some Whitman, Wordsworth, Keats, both Shelleys, Felicia Hemans, Rossetti, Charlotte Gilman, Rilke, Sandburg, Stevens.
What would you love to see in LUMINA this year? As internet lady I am focused on the online component, but I see the journal and the blog as becoming more fused as one cohesive unit. I don’t think the internet has to kill print, I think they can feed each other and work together.

Who are your favorite authors? Obsessed with these poets: Robert Hass, Jack Gilbert, Louise Glück, Linda Gregg, Walt Whitman, Elizabeth Bishop, Rita Dove, Philip Levine, Denise Levertov, Adrienne Rich, Mary Oliver, Sharon Olds, Andrew Hudgins, Anne Sexton, Kathy Fagan, Frank O’Hara, Mark Strand, James Wright. I also have great respect/adoration for these prose writers: Carole Maso, Joyce Carol Oates, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Jonathan Safran Foer, Paula Fox, Kurt Vonnegut, Tom Robbins, and Salman Rushdie. I know I am leaving out many great poets and writers, but they are all in my mind, or on my bookshelves somewhere.
What would you love to see in LUMINA this year? I would love to see writing that flows with a musicality. Repetition, rhythm, character development, showing and not telling, all of these qualities, but with a singing of words! All genres of writing, whether that be poetry, fiction, or non-fiction, which contain a lyric quality.

Who are your favorite authors? This list changes frequently, but right now some of my favorites are Zadie Smith, Cormac McCarthy, David Foster Wallace, and Junot Díaz. A few that will never be kicked off are John Green, J.R.R. Tolkien, Tamora Pierce, and Madeleine L’Engle–because I’ll always be a sucker for fantasy and YA.
What would you love to see in LUMINA this year? Stories or poems or anything else with lines so honest and true yet so very fresh and original that I’ll want to scribble them down some place where I won’t ever forget them.
